PERSONAL QUESTIONS

How old are you?
I was born October 8, 1986, so I am 23. Yes, I know. I still look like I am about sixteen.

What ethnicity are you?
I assume you mean, what kind of Asian am I. I am Vietnamese. Both my parents were born in South Vietnam (an important distinction for me to make). But when you are talking about ethnicities you are talking about how a person was raised, my traditions are a big mix of Vietnamese-American, I am a 'first-generation' American, so my parents had to deal a lot with keeping our heritage and letting us learn how to better associate ourselves with where we lived.

Where are you from?
California. Southern California (another important distinction I'd like to make). I have lived in Houston, Texas and North Providence, Rhode Island as well, but I'd say that I 'grew' up, became a real person in California, in Texas and Rhode Island I was a tag-along, who really didn't care about anything going on around me.

Are you good at math?
Absolutely not. That is a stereotype that I did not get... I have, however, gotten into two car accidents, one with a car, one just on my own... I have hit a parked car once. (Sad. I know.) And I will say I am nerdy, I like to write, do projects, study, but it all depends on the subject matter--I am more humanities than math and science. LOL.

How did you and your husband meet?
We met our Sophomore year in high school, but he doesn't remember. (Haha, cause he was cool guy. I was...not. LOL.) Our Junior year in high school I noticed him at my friend's hockey game. DJ will tell you that I then stalked him. All I did was take on hockey as an assignment for the school's newspaper. Haha, he just happened to be on the team. That's when he noticed me. But that was it.

Senior year, we were in the same English class. He was the slacker. I was the overachiever. He said that he use to be so annoyed because I had so much to say in that class. Our English teacher told me DJ was so lazy and did absolutely nothing. LOL.

October-November the school was going to put on a school musical, Guys and Dolls. I tried out cause it was something I haven't done yet. I LOVED it!! Then end of October, we had a week of rehearsals on site before the running of the show. I got to the drama room to get ready to leave to the theater and... there he was. "What is he doing here!?"

Apparently, DJ was in drama, but for the production, he was part of the stage crew. Along with one of my friends from middle school, Randy. I spent a lot of the time talking to Randy, DJ was just around, but it opened the door to conversation. Come to find out he's quite the charmer.

I think the last night of production we were comfortable with each other, my favorite memory of Guys and Dolls was... before the show started, we were all behind the curtain, the opening scene is a bustling NY scene, and I played the starlet in the opening scene, but a man the rest. So I got to wear a cute dress in the beginning, there was music playing for people to get seated, and Randy asked me to dance. I refused, cause I knew his girlfriend would have a fit. Haha!! But then DJ offered a hand. :D It was so cute, cute little swing couple behind a closed curtain before the show started. Haha.

So after it was all over and done with. We now had a reason to talk during English. His class was right next door to mine second period, so he occasionally walked with me. And the pursuit started. LOL. He wanted me. I wanted him, but... he was going to make ME ask him. "It's the 21st Century he says." Haha.

So... I called him first.
I asked him to Winter Formal. (He didn't even say yes right away.)

Haha. So that is how we met. There are lots of cute tid bits in the middle. Ask me again and I'll tell you. :)

PHOTOGRAPHY QUESTIONS

What is your style of photography?
DJENN Photographers shoots Lifestyle Photography. This means we want to catch you out and about, living life, doing your thing.

Who will photograph our session, or wedding?
I will. If DJ is around, he would be there. For a wedding you can count on myself and up to two other photographers who will be there to ensure we don't miss a thing.

What kind of camera do you use?
There is a Canon 5DMII in the mail. Consider it mine. ;)

Do you shoot in color or black &white?
During the shoot all images are captured in color. One of the best things about digital is that I can do whatever I want to them in post-processing.

How much input can we have?
We would love your input! This is what the consultation is for. I want to get to know you and what you want your pictures to turn out like. Please feel free to tell us about your dreams, your desires, what look and feel you want to create in your images. We want to capture who you are!!

How many photos can we expect?
We average about 700 images per hour.

When will our photos be ready?
On average, it takes 1-2 weeks to edit and get the images online. Please schedule a time, or way with us to get your products, or CDs to you.

Will our images be watermarked?
No. However, if you post them on any websites, the images may have a watermark on them. We would like credit somewhere on the website.

How far in advance should we book you? What must we do to reserve our date?

EVERYTHING ELSE

If you could live in any time period other than this one, what would it be?
DJ and I usually answer the 1940s. WWII and all. You would think that we'd want to be done with it, this whole war and separation thing, but I really think it's who we are, it's what we do. God's been able to make us into these two people who have learned to adapt with being separated, who enjoy the time we have together, etc. And we have this thing about the 'greater good' haha. I love that we have this common purpose--that it's not just about us and our marriage and our lives, we see that God's got a bigger purpose and a bigger plan for us.

The only other time I can think of that comes close is Colonial America--right before and during the Revolutionary War. Absolutely LOVE it!!
